When it comes to John Cena and wrestling, it’s hard to think of something he hasn’t done. He has come close to overtaking Ric Flair’s record number of world title runs in WWE, and is already considered a legend both for his in-ring work and the range of charitable projects he is involved in around the world. Despite all that he’s achieved, there is a major wrestling milestone that most stars take at some point in their careers that Cena hasn’t done yet. Although a former WWE writer revealed that it was discussed, and it seems Cena reacted to the idea in a surprising way.
Former WWE writer Brian Gerwitz appeared on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg A podcast ahead of the release of his next book, There’s only one problem: true tales from a former, one-time, seventh-strongest person in WWE. During the conversation, Gerwitz recalled John Cena’s response when WWE writers tried to persuade him to go, and as it turned out, the star was more than willing to commit:
So he was okay with going in heels, but it wouldn’t be the kind of heels the audience could laugh with or on. For a star like John Cena, this is probably the safest way to play it, so it’s shocking to hear that he really wants the commitment to be a heel stub – and based on that short response, he really means one at that.
Brian Gerwitz later added that while Vince McMahon has expressed an interest in moving heels on multiple occasions, the same concerns have always surfaced. His removal as WWE’s best-loved face meant that someone else had to take on the role, and McMahon and others didn’t think someone could take on the role and perform on the same level as F9 Star, regarding all the responsibilities that come with this position.
It’s a good reason not to push the idea, and it’s interesting to think about now, considering John Cena’s current professional stature. Cena has said several times that he has not finished with WWE and would like to return in the future. Of course, he is no longer the face of the organization, thanks to his representative commitments in peace maker and other projects. (for him suicide squad The character was actually a perfect heel.) So, if ever there was a time to put it as a heel, it seems like the right moment.
And if WWE still isn’t willing to give him a boost, maybe another destination like AEW can? CM Punk and Brian Danielson said recently They thought John Cena would do a great job in the rival companyAnd seeing him perform outside of WWE for another major company would be another big sign outside his box.
The WWE now has Triple H on the creative runHe may have different ideas about the wrestler-turned-actor playing heels. I’m currently crossing my fingers and toes that the DC star and the establishment are already cooking something up for Future WWE event But with a lot already Change in company after Vince McMahon retiresMaybe we should postpone a potential heel turn until 2024?
While we’re seeing if John Cena returns to WWE, anyone has Peacock Premium Subscription He can stream some of his greatest matches right now. I hope he finds time to get back into wrestling soon, and maybe even gets a chance to go “with a full heel.”
